London based artists Wyllie O Hagan, watched thousands of videos, on YouTube, over the weekend. Why? To launch an online film competition showing how YouTubers around the world celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

“The competition rules were simple”, says Irish born artist Clare O Hagan. “We looked for films that did not contain caterwailing drunks in big Guinness hats, no leprechauns having sex, no painted green boobs or big green bums.”

Viewing of films started early St Patrick’s Day morning, with 1000 films online. Numbers rose to near 4000 after the weekend. Progress was reported via a daily online report. Thirty films were selected, including “Wally’s Bees on St Patrick’s Day” and “Runescape Tip.It St. Patricks Day freak train.”

O Hagan continues “We had to dig deep, but we have found some real gems. We are delighted to report that St Patrick’s Day retains its magic.”
